Second edition of a work originally published the year before; an appendix appeared in 1735 and a second volume in 1739. The author (1691-1771) "was the most distinguished and influential British gardener of the eighteenth century . . . Miller's outstanding work was The Gardeners Dictionary, produced in eight editions (1732-68) during his lifetime. Besides horticulture, it covered agriculture, arboriculture, and wine making" (ODNB).
