Ray Spillenger, (1924 - 2013) showed with, and was a founding member of March gallery, one of the galleries included in the collective known as the Tenth Street Galleries. His career was not as successful as many of his contemporaries, as he withdrew from the gallery scene in the early 1960s, and abondoned painting altogether by the 1970s. After his death, there has been a resurgence of interest surrounding his works and career.
