Minna Citron began her art career as a realist painter focusing primarily on New York cityscapes. She studied under John Sloan at the Art Students League, NY. During Theodore Roosevelt's New Deal programs she was employed as an art instructor. She was also awarded a mural project funded through the Treasury Section of Fine Arts, (TSFA). She began making prints at this time and in the post-war era created mostly abstract paintings and prints. This lot is a fine example of her post-war abstractions.
