Untitled.

Color pastels on handmade paper, 1986. 330x255 mm; 13x10 1/4 inches. Signed twice and dated in ink, lower left recto.

Provenance: Gifted by Schor to the artist Robert Berlind (1938-2015), New York; private collection, New York.

Schor (born 1950) received her MFA in painting from the California Institute of the Arts in 1973, and became an advocate and member of the newly formed CalArts Feminist Art Program, participating in the landmark installation Womanhouse, organized by Judy Chicago and Miriam Schapiro. She continues to champion female empowerment in the arts, and her art and writing often is based on social and political issues. Schor has received several awards and honors, most recently, her election into the National Academy in 2017, and the 2019 Women's Caucus for Art Lifetime Achievement Award.
