The book is laid in a custom-made late 19th-century brown morocco gilt book box (somewhat scuffed, clasp defective) with front cover stamped: "Presented to Ada Rehan by C[onstant?] Coquelin. 1889." Rehan (1857-1916) was a prominent Irish-American actress; Coquelin (1841-1909) was one of the leading French actors of his time, known in particular for creating the role of Cyrano de Begerac.<
