Additional Details

It is unclear whether this copy is from the Dutch edition of Montanus or Ogilby's English edition, as the paper does not contain a watermark. "[The map] is a careful copy of the Hondius-Blaeu version of the [John] Smith map but smaller in size and somewhat more decorative. In the upper right corner is a 'Notarum' on a small panel surrounded by figures of animals including a llama and goats and two Indian figures one of which holds a bow"--Verner, Smith's Virginia and its Derivatives, Derivative 8.
