Kane (1916 - 2014) was a Chicago-based illustrator who worked alongside artists such as Haddon Sundblom for clients like Coca-Cola until 1951 when he relocated to the East Coast to be closer to the publishing industry. Along with a steady and successful career with most of the major periodicals of the day including The Saturday Evening Post, Esquire, and Cosmopolitan, Kane also became known for his paperback novel covers. Over the course of 45 years, he produced over 500 illustrations; his most notable contributions include covers for The Hardy Boys series and Raymond Chandler's mysteries.
