"The situation of things in the present moment & the State of Exchange have excited a Desire to ship some Specie from Europe and as there will probably be many vessels returning from your Port to the Port of New York it has occurred that this Business might be executed by a House at Havre . . . Will it be agreeable to you to ship to the amount of 50,000 crowns of six livres say 300,000 in some good American Bottom bound to New York . . ."
