Additional Details

This atlas has 11 maps that appeared 2 years earlier in Morse's 1823 Atlas of the United States (Rumsey 4869). The maps are: United States, plus 10 regional U.S. maps showing a group of states per map. Some of these 10 regional maps are updated here compared to the 1823 editions. The non-U. S. maps are after Arrowsmith. The United States maps are copied from various American cartographers, including Melish (PA), Greenleaf (ME), Carrigain (NH), Lay (NY), and others. Tanner's maps are also represented. This impressive source list of important American cartographers testifies to the high quality of the Morse atlas. Rumsey 3812.
