MOULTRIE, WILLIAM. Partly-printed Document Signed, "Will:m Moultrie," as Governor, land deed granting 337 acres "in the District of Camden [near Camden, SC]" to Charles McCoy. With a survey of the granted land including plat map in an unknown hand, dated May 3, 1794, bound to deed with ribbon at lower center. 10 1/2x16 inches overall; complete separations at folds repaired in several places recto with tissue, holes at intersections with minor loss to text, scattered soiling and foxing, docketing on verso, lacking Great Seal. Additional Details

Moultrie (1730-1805) was a Revolutionary general whose actions saved Charleston from capture in 1779, later was taken prisoner when the city fell, and, after the war, served as governor of South Carolina, 1785-87, and 1794-96.
