Additional Details

scarce first edition of the vocal score of Don Giovanni, with orchestral accompaniment arranged for piano by Carl Zulehner. The libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte was published in 1787, the year the opera was first performed; the full score was first published in 1801. This copy conforms to Haberkamp's first issue, with Zulehner's signature appearing on the title and the plate number 138 present on page 195, but lacks the leaf with the subscribers' list and table of contents (which was omitted in the second issue). The watermarks are only partly visible and thus inconclusive. Haberkamp I, 292-95, and II, 252-55. American Book Prices Current has recorded only one copy since 1916, and Jahrbuch der Auktionspreise only one since 1950.
