Thick 8vo, olive crushed morocco with decorative floral cornerpieces, gilt rules, similar design along spine compartments and raised bands; gilt turn-ins over white pigskin doublures with a center panel with two gilt rules, floral device in corners, and a circle incorporating the initials HMS, for Hannah M. Additional Details

number 55 of 750 sets of the manuscript edition, containing an original leaf in muir's hand. The leaf, contained in Volume I, is taken from Chapter VI, "The Glacial Lakes," in "The Mountains of California." The excerpt discusses Lake Starr King, located above the Little Yosemite Valley; its wording is significantly different from the final printed version. Ex-collection Hannah M. Standish of Pittsburgh, whose library was sold on 3 March 1926 at the American Art Association in New York.
