Mutt and Jeff, on brown horses at the end of a race, are chatting with ladies in pink, blue, yellow and green, under a blue sky; lettering in red and white. The comic strip Mutt & Jeff<> created by Harry "Bud" Fisher, first appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle<> on November 15, 1907, and became so popular that its creator became one of the highest paid American cartoonist's of his era, ultimately earning more than $4,000 per week for his work. The short and tall duo were so popular that they began to appear in animated cartoons as well as in theatrical productions, which the following two lots are advertising.
