Additional Details

During the Ancien Regime, the notaire royal was responsible for drafting any legal arrangements between parties and certifying their authenticity. As a result, the transactions of daily life are meticulously recorded with dates, locations, names and places of residence of the participants. Marriages, land purchases, wills, debts, are all found here, simple and complex, a trove of genealogical information.
