Additional Details

A bitter political cartoon, prompted by the 1834 act emancipating slaves in the West Indies and the Reform Bill of 1832 which brought this about. A rather "bloated" politician stands in a barrel, his arms outstretched. To his left, an emancipated black family and friends celebrate with dancing. To his right is an impoverished white family.
