Second edition, quarto, with full-paged engraving of the martyred saint and one text woodcut, title page printed within border of typographical ornaments, bound in very good contemporary limp parchment, contents crisp and clean, 8 x 5 3/4 in.

Felipe de Jesús (1572-1597) was the first Mexican saint and the first Catholic missionary to be martyred in Japan. He and a group of other religious were executed in Nagasaki, Japan in 1597. The first edition of his biography was published in Mexico in 1683.
