Adams M-1035.

Swiss-born von Meggen made his pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 1542. One of his stops was the monastery of Saint Francis in Candia on Crete. He reports that the saint's spirit was present on the island and at the religious house, and that Saint Francis himself had turned the salty water in their well into sweet, drinkable water. In 1546, von Meggen was summoned by the Pope to serve as Commandant of the Swiss Guards.
