first edition. signed by nabokov and dated may, 1957, the year of publication, in ink, on the front endpaper along with the number 326. The novel features his funniest and most heartrending character, Professor Timofey Pnin, a haplessly disoriented Russian émigré employed by an American college in the 1950s. The book, which was partly inspired by his own experiences teaching at Cornell, won Nabokov his first National Book Award nomination. Signed copies are quite scarce. Juliar A30.1.a.
