NATIONAL PARKS. Group of 3 posters. Circa 1934.
Each approximately 40x27 1/4 inches.
Condition varies, generally A-.
Three in a series of bold, two color posters with interesting typography that Waugh created for the National Park system in 1934. Each of these has an extra three-color add-on, promoting "The Union Pacific / Overland Route" as a means of getting out West to the parks. "Dorothy Waugh studied at the Chicago Art Institute. After graduation, she worked in a commercial art studio in Chicago. Upon relocating to New York, she was manager of the children's book department at Alfred A. Knopf. In addition to her work at Knopf, she was production supervisor of the National Park Service as well as doing copy, layout and artwork. In the late 1930s she was appointed special lecturer and critic to the New York School of Fine and Applied Art. While there she also taught typography and design" (http://www.drleslie.com/Contributors/waugh.shtml).
