Nayland Blake is a New York artist whose works redefine physical and psychological conflicts and relationships in assemblage, sculpture, video and performance, in addition to works on paper and photography. Blake received his M.F.A. from California Institute of the Arts, Valencia in 1984. He has had several one-person exhibitions at Matthew Marks Gallery, including the 2008 What the Whiskey Said, What the Sun is Saying. His 2003 Some Kind of Love: Performance Video 1989-2002 exhibited at the Center for Art and Visual Culture, University of Maryland traveled to The Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery, Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY. His work has been in numerous museum group exhibitions internationally, including the 1991 Whitney Biennial Exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. Nayland Blake is currently featured in a solo exhibition at Location One, NY through February 14, 2009.
