N.C. WYETH (1882-1945) "Two Civil War Soldiers." Student sketch, circa 1900. Charcoal on paper. 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches. Unsigned. Includes letter of authentication from Douglas Allen Jr., co-author of N.C. Wyeth, the Colleccted Paintings, Illustrations, and Murals, that reads in part, "I attest to the authenticity of this drawing. It is an early work., circa 1898-1900 while N.C. Wyeth was a studentat the Mechanic Arts High School, Boston. The drawing was traced to a colletion of his works owned by an elderly neighbor of the Wyeth family in Needham, Mass."
