Nicolas Carone (1917-2010) was a New York-born painter who exhibited with fellow Abstract Expressionists at the Stable Gallery on West 58th Street in Manhattan; his first solo show was at the Gallery in 1954. Shifting lines and layered brushwork in grays, whites and blacks informed his large and small-scale paintings of both his early and late work.
