Carone (1917-2010) was born in New York and raised in Hoboken. He participated in the "9th Street Art Exhibition" in 1951 and along with fellow Abstract Expressionist artists Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning and Franz Kline, exhibited at the Stable Gallery, New York, in the 1950s.
