NIKI DE SAINT PHALLE, JEAN TINGUELY, AND PER OLOF ULTVEDT

Hon - en historia.
Book in original card portfolio, including a piece of painted canvas that covered Hon. Offset on newsprint, 1967. 365x295 mm; 14¼x11½ inches. Signed by the three artists in red ink and pencil, and numbered 43/150 in ink stamp, on the portfolio cover.

Hon was a monumental colorful sculpture of a woman in repose, inaugurated at the Moderna Museet of Stockholm in 1966. Made in collaboration with Jean Tinguely and Per Olof Ultvedt, it was Phalle's first accessible sculpture, allowing visitors to enter through an opening between the figure's legs where a rotating list of furnishings awaited them, some including a pay phone, a cinema for twelve people, a plastic pool and a museum of fake paintings.

Hon - en historia was published a year after the opening and is often miscategorized as an exhibition catalogue. This publication features reviews, letters, notes, and photographs from conception to installation, offering invaluable insight into the production of this seminal feminist work.
