NINO NANNI (1888-1969) XVI FIERA DI MILANO. 1935.
39x27 1/2 inches, 99x70 cm. Pizzi & Pizio, Milan.
Condition B: repaired tears in margins and image; creases, losses and abrasions in margins and image; foxing at edges; sharp horizontal creases; paper flag affixed to central image. Mounted on very thin Japan.
Nanni is best known for his mannerist, Art Deco postcards of stylishly dressed beautiful women and young couples, yet, for his poster work he could also channel the monumental style so favored by the Italian regime in the 1930s. This is the second of two posters he designed for the Milan Trade Fair; the first one being a collaboration with Giorgio Abkasi in 1932. This poster has an older, Imperial German flag tipped on.
