Nitza Tufiño grew up in a multicultural environment. Daughter of renowned Brooklyn born Puerto Rican artist, Rafael Tufiño and Mexican dancer, luz Maria Aguirre, she divided her childhood years between Puerto Rico, Mexico and the United States. Well versed in many media, this example of Nitza Tufiño's work shows her inventive use of print making. The forms in this composition are derived from Taino culture of Puerto Rico. Tufiño is a member of El Consejo Grafico Nacional, a coalition of Latinx printmakers. She is also a co-founder of Taller Boricua, a multidisciplinary cultural space in East Harlem dedicated to the promotion of arts and culture of the Puerto Rican community.
