Provenance: private collection.

Norman Lewis painted the outskirts of Greensboro, NC while teaching there in 1937. Lewis also did a related series of lithographs that year, including Madame, Southern Landscape and Woman with a Cup. These early works from his brief Southern period are very scarce.
