As detailed on a typed note which accompanies the drawing, Rockwell created this drawing while visiting his good friend, illustrator Edwin Georgi, during a visit at his Westport studio. While waiting for Georgi to finish an art lesson that he was giving to his aunt and another student, Rockwell drew the current lot (likely depicting Georgi's aunt, seated in the foreground in profile to the left).
