NORMAN WEAVER (1913-1989) HEAL'S / "WINTER COMFORTS IN THE HOME" EXHIBITION. Circa 1930. 29 3/4x19 3/4 inches, 75 1/2x50 1/4 cm. Condition A-: minor restoration in image. Weaver was a photographer, artist and illustrator. His work for Heal's (a furniture store) began with him as a cabinet maker, but he shortly became their manuscript writer and calligrapher. He also designed several posters for the firm. This poster, with its Art Deco angles and shadows, is quite an outlier from the rest of his oeuvre, as his book jackets, magazine ads and postage stamps were less stylized and tended to be either more illustrative or realistic.
