Letter Signed, "North," as Member of Parliament, to unidentified recipient, forwarding a letter from John Burgoyne intended for the King, apparently relating to Burgoyne's resignation as Commander-in-Chief of Ireland, with holograph closing. 2 pages, 4to, with integral blank. Additional Details

Lord North had been Prime Minister during the American Revolution, and Burgoyne was the British general forced to surrender at Saratoga. North writes "I flatter myself that when it is fully examined, Sir John will appear to have behaved, in a very difficult situation, with great prudence & discretion." The letter was apparently addressed to the Home Secretary, Thomas Townshend, 1st Viscount Sydney.
