Founded in 1832, the Festiniog (more commonly spelled Ffestiniog) Railway Company in Wales is still in operation today, making it the world's oldest surviving rail company. The approximately 13 and a half mile-long, narrow-gauge Festinog Railway, is situated in current-day Snowdonia National Park, in Northern Wales. The railway began its service to help transport slate and rock from quarries to the Welsh coast. Norman Keene was a British illustrator and poster artist, who also designed war posters, advertising for Shell, at least one theater poster, and an image for Kodak featuring the "Kodak Girl."
