O. WINSTON LINK (1914-2001)
Hotshot Eastbound, Iaeger, West Virginia, a suite of three contact prints. Silver contact prints, each measuring 4x5 inches (10.1x12.7 cm.), each with Link's signature in ink, his negative notation (NW 1101 or 1103) in pencil or in ink, and his copyright stamp, and the third with his OWL stamp and the THG stamp with an inventory notation in pencil, all on verso. 1956; two printed 1950s-60s and one circa 1975

Provenance: The Collection of Thomas H. Garver

According to the The New York Times: "The light from Winston Link's flash washed out the image on the screen, which Mr. Link added, in a darkroom, from a different frame, to create the iconic image. The Iaeger Driver-In was on N&W's main line, and the movie that evening was Battle Taxi, a film about the Korean War. Mr. Link placed Willie Allen and Dorothy Christian in his 1952 Buick and adjusted the camera so the image was in perfect focus from six feet away to infinity."
