During the summer of 1889, coinciding with the Exposition Universelle in Paris, Buffalo Bill's Wild West show performed to large crowds. Annie Oakley, who had left the show in 1887 because of conflicts concerning the show's other female sharpshooter, rejoined the show for the European tour.
