ODGEN M. PLEISSNER
Rail Shooting on the Connecticut River.

Watercolor on paper. 400x588 mm; 15 3/4x23 1/8 inches. Signed in watercolor, lower right recto. Ex-collection The Crossroads of Sport, Inc., New York, with the label on the frame back; Childs family, Long Island, New York, by descent to the current owner.

The New York philanthropist, and developer of Bon Ami cleanser, Eversley Childs, was an early patron of Odgen Pleissner. The two frequently fished together and Childs introduced Pleissner to shooting and thereby a new set of sporting subjects (see Bergh, The Art of Ogden M. Pleissner, 1984, p. 10).
