ODIN ROSENVINGE (1880-1957)

CUNARD LINE / FASTEST OCEAN SERVICE IN THE WORLD. Circa 1920s.

39 1/2x24 1/4 inches, 100 1/4x61 1/2 cm. Turner & Dunnett Ltd., Liverpool.
Condition B+ / A-: small replaced losses in corners; repaired tears, creases and minor restoration in margins.

The Cunard Line had three 4-funnel ships; the Lusitania and her sister Mauretania launched within 9 weeks of each other in 1907; and the Aquitania followed seven years later. The Lusitania was sunk by German torpedoes on May 7, 1915 (an event which helped precipitate the United States' entry in World War I). After the war, as reparations from the German government for the sinking of the Lusitania, the Cunard Line was given the SS Imperator, which was renamed RMS Berengaria in 1921.
