WITH AN EARLY MEZZOTINT OLD MASTER PRINTS
Two prints.

HANS SEBALD BEHAM. Hercules and Antaeus<>, engraving, 1545. 48x70 mm; 1 7/8x2 3/4 inches. Trimmed on the plate mark, outside the border line. Bartsch 105; Pauli 103 * WALLERANT VAILLANT (after Prince Ruprecht von der Pfalz). The Standard Bearer<>, mezzotint, circa 1670. 186x133 mm; 7 3/8x5 3/8 inches, thread margins. A good impression of this scarce, early print. Hollstein 106.

The latter print, an early work in its own right, was based on one of the earliest mezzotints ever made (dating from 1658) by one of the first practitioners of the medium (see Nagler 5).
