OTTO MORACH (1887-1973) BREMGARTEN - DIETIKON - BAHN. 1928.
50x36 inches. Wolfsberg, Zurich.
Condition B: restored losses and restoration in margins; repaired tears, restoration and creases in image.
Morach is very difficult to classify. He studied both mathematics and painting, spent time in Berlin, Munich, Paris and Dresden, was a member of many different avant-garde artistic movements, and used his talents to create such diverse artistic items as stained glass and puppets. His few posters illustrate his strong personal style. This poster is typical of Morach's unique graphic world: predominantly blue, with elongated buildings, sharp triangles, fir trees and stylized bridges. These strange, mysterious abstract landscapes are unique within the travel poster genre and clearly resonated for the artist, as this image is very similar to the composition of his 1923 poster Taxameter. The rarest of all Morach's posters. Schweiz p. 123.
