Ottler came to prominence as a designer between the wars when he was a member of the second group of Die Sechs as well as part of the Neue Vereinigung Munchner Plakat Kunstler. This image, for a flower show, is one of his earliest posters. A classic composition combining nature and architecture in a well-balanced image, the color of the rose's stem echoes the colors of the geometrically organized park, all arrayed above the strict typography.
