Additional Details

A personal note by pioneering cartoonist R.F. Outcault, illustrated with an original drawing of his most enduring characters: Buster Brown and his dog Tige, created in 1902. In the letter, Outcault apologizes for being unable to attend Sherry's birthday party, promises an additional drawing later, ands adds that "This boy Buster is worse than two white elephants." The drawing is captioned "Resolved: That honest injun Sherry I hope you'll live forever. Tige says he wishes you would live twice that long and that we could be to your birthday party to-night. Buster Brown." The boy and his dog, into trouble as usual, appear to have knocked over a container of ink, into which Tige has already dipped his paw.
