Editio princeps of the works of Attic orators (other than Demosthenes, who was published earlier), folio, two parts bound together; Aldine woodcut devices to both titles, leaf with instructions to the binder present in this copy, as well as blank n4; bound in full Renaissance burgundy morocco over wooden boards in the Greek style, with gilt panels and gilt tool on front and back board with a female figure holding a sail; smaller floral tools to the corners of the compartments (stain to front board), with the remnants of one distinctive three-stranded plaited clasp (of four) attached at the head of the back board center, two of four peg catches present on front boards, the boards cut flush to the pages, board edges worked with raised endbands extending to the boards on both ends, originally worked in gold silk over the core endband (silk strands almost completely worn away, more evident on lower endband); almost smooth spine, edges gilt with a geometric gauffered pattern; ex libris Thomas Day Seymour with bookplate inside front board, George Parker Winship bookplate; later pastedown inside front board; some worming to contents; first title page toned with spotting, endcaps chipped, joints dry, but the binding without repair, intact and unsophisticated other than the later front pastedown, 11 3/4 x 8 in.
