Second edition dated the same year as the first, with Royston's name in the imprint; described by Madan as "the Oxford counterfeit," who dated its imprint to 1658; 12mo, bound in modern half sheep with patterned paper boards; with some worming to contents; 5 1/2 x 3 in.
This series of essays on current events shows Osborne a supporter of Machiavelli's theories and of the unpopular political behavior of the Ottoman Empire during the Köprülü era. He writes favorably about a government based on the Islamic religion, contrasting its harmony with the endless strife associated with Christian rule.
