Femme au fichu.

Aquatint printed in black on cream wove paper, 1947. 380x285 mm; 15x11 1/4 inches (sheet), full margins. Signed in pencil, lower right. A superb impression of this extremely scarce print.

A unique proof, before steel facing and without the date inked, not listed by Baer. Baer cites three other proofs, all with the date inked, on this paper before steel facing.

With a letter of authenticity for the artist's signature, from Maurice Jardot, Galerie Louise Leiris, dated November 27, 1969, Paris, "A few days ago, Madame Leiris has obtained from Picasso the answer to your question concerning the authenticity of the signature at the lower right angle of the print the photograph of which you had sent us . . . I have the pleasure to tell you that Picasso declared this signature to be authentic." Bloch 491; Baer 753 II B.
