This subject, among Picasso's most complex color lithographs, occupied him for three months in 1951. From March 12th to May 27th he created 17 different versions of the lithograph in various color variants with compositional alterations. According to Reuße, there is only one known impression of this example. There is a published edition of 50 of this subject in another color variant and similar composition.
