Lithograph on cream wove paper, 1964. 316x497 mm; 12 1/2x19 1/2 inches (sheet), full margins. Proof, without the left side of the sheet printed and aside from the book jacket edition of 1200 and the deluxe edition of 200. Signed in blue crayon, lower right, and inscribed "essai" in pencil, lower left. A very good impression of this extremely scarce lithograph.
There were two lithographs printed on one sheet (this proof impression with only the lithograph on the right side of the sheet) which were used as the cover for Werner Spies, Pour Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler, Stuttgart, 1965. Bloch 1180; Mourlot 404; Reuße 856.
