PAL (JEAN DE PALÉOLOGUE, 1860-1942) AMER SAINTE BAUME.
58x42 1/2 inches, 147x108cm. Castagnier, Marseille.
Condition B+: repaired tears, creases, abrasions and restoration in margins and image; restoration along vertical and horizontal folds.
Amer is a bitter liqueur formed from macerating oranges and fruits and spices. This particular brand takes its name from a mountain range outside of Marseilles. Here, helping herself to a quaff poured from an extraordinary bottle, a buxom coquette holds her hand to her chest in delight as she tastes the drink. Although it is a classic Pal concept and design this image is very rarely seen.
