Additional Details

While photographs were used to chart the stars as early as the late 19th-century, this is possibly the earliest published star atlas containing original photographs. Another atlas, Edward Emerson Barnard's "Photographs of Select Regions of the Milky Way," contained photographs that were taken in the late 19th-century but was not published until 1927.<
