PAUL COLIN (1892-1986) AEROLINEAS ARGENTINAS. Circa 1950.
39 1/4x24 1/2 inches, 99 3/4x62 1/4 cm. Bedos & Cie., Paris.
Condition A-: minor tears and abrasions at edges; light creases in image; pin holes in corners.
In the post-war era, Colin accepted an increasing number of commercial commissions and his poster production diversified beyond the theatrical world where he had made his reputation in the 1920s. With the introduction of the DC-6s to their fleet, Aerolineas Argentinas finally had the capability of flying at night. Colin captures this important technological advancement, depicting the sunset colors on the company's condor logo, as well as the blue-hued twilight of the background. L'Histoire de l'Aviation p. 168.
