"La Nouvelle Eve" opened as a nightclub in 1949 in the same premises that had been a nightclub since 1898. During the Second World War, the building was used as a movie theatre, but the new designers chose a Belle Epoque theme for their "new" establishment. Colin uses flat colors and a free-handed style of illustration to depict Eve with an apple in one hand and a snake in the other. An image evoking sin and temptation, which was totally appropriate for a venue that hosted topless reviews. Typographically, the word "Eve" is a continuation of the snake. This image also exists in a smaller format, and in another variation where it is the central image surrounded by text. Colin p. 126.
