Nave Nave Fenua.

Woodcut printed in ochre ink on thin cream laid paper, 1893-94. 355x203 mm; 14x8 1/8 inches, wide (full ?) margins. Artist's proof, likely printed by the artist, and aside from the editions of approximately 30, printed by Roy, and 100, printed posthumously.

According to Kornfeld, the edition of approximately 30 printed in colors by Louis Roy in 1894 are on heavy cream Japan paper and the edition of 100 printed in black ink for the artist's son, Pola Gauguin, in 1921 are on grayish white China paper. The current printing appears to be an impression listed in the catalogue raisonné as state IV A "printed by Paul Gauguin in one color on cream or white paper." Kornfeld 14.
