Additional Details

The story, set in a not-too-distant future, focuses on a U.S. Senator grappling with his intelligent high school-aged son and friends' act of ‘juvenile delinquency'-- the building of a guided missile.

The more intricately rendered piece was the final published image, while the image with simpler, more stylized linework was an earlier, presumably rejected version. Interestingly, the final illustration was pasted directly on top of the earlier version (which bears the story title), as evidenced by mild discoloration on the latter piece in the exact size of the final art.
